Also out these past 14 days, the second chapter in the Assassin's Creed Chronicles series, a PS4 version of the first PS2 Arc the Lad game, and a console version of the hit PC game, Gone Home. It's time to get FreQy. Jump past the break to see more of this fortnight's new releases.
So it seems that we skipped another week. Let's hope this doesn't become a regular thing. The big release from the last two weeks would have to be Amplitude. A successfully Kickstarted remake to the popular 2003 music/rhythm game of the same name, this new and improved version features upgraded graphics, new modes, and a brand new soundtrack. If you are a fan of music/rhythm games, you should definitely give this one a look.

Don't despair, fellow Steam aficionados. After three long weeks away, the New Steam Releases are back. Well, it wasn't a matter of them going away so much as there simply not being enough decent new content to post about. This must be the slow time of year. Finally though, Steam has accumulated enough good stuff and we're ready for action.
The standout title from the past 21 days would have to be the fantastic-looking bullet hell shoot 'em up, The Hurricane of the Varstray -Collateral Hazard-. Despite the fact that this particular scrolling shooter was never an actual Arcade release (not yet anyway), it definitely has the look of one. Japanese developer Studio SiestA obviously put a lot of care and effort into this title. It should be noted that they already have an established pedigree, thanks to their excellent prior Arcade/Xbox Live Arcade shoot 'em up, Trouble Witches. Also released in the past three-quarters of a month, another fun-looking little action title called Cally's Caves 3, a fighting game based on the Kung Fu Panda animated movies, and a double pack of two classic World War I flight simulation games. Wait patiently for several weeks, finally get a nice amount of quality new releases to get excited about, then jump past the break to see more new releases. Sorry about the lack of posts recently. But now we're back; we're back from the future. Or was it the past? Whatever.
This week saw a trifecta of NES Virtual Console titles hit the Wii U. Perhaps, most notable is the 1985 Wild West light gun shooter, Wild Gunman. It was the game that made an entertaining cameo in Back to the Future Part II's nostalgia-fueled fictional future of 2015; and it is apparently still going strong in the actual future of 2016. See if you've got what it takes to be a crack shot like Marty McFly. It really is a pretty decent game, even if you do have to use your hands. Also part of the aforementioned NES trifecta, the only other notable NES light gun shooter (that isn't called Duck Hunt), Hogan's Alley. And lastly, there is the cajun-themed, unrelenting Konami action game, The Adventures of Bayou Billy. Display your mad shooting skills whilst ignoring jealous kids who compare your Wiimote to a baby's toy, then jump past the break to see this list of new releases. Happy New Year, everyone! In case you were wondering, the Nintendo eShop releases didn't get posted last week because one single game release doesn't really warrant a post, no matter how good it may be. Instead, it will be rolled into this week's post so that there may be two great games to mention!
Just in time for a brand new year (as well as the snowiest time of the year) Nintendo has thrown down a totally wicked run by dropping their N64 classic, 1080° Snowboarding, into the Virtual Console half-pipe. As if that wasn't stellar enough, last week they launched a Wii U digital version of their Wii mega hit, Super Mario Galaxy. What a way to end/begin the year! Go show off some sick tricks, then set out on an adventure beyond the stars, then jump past the break to see this list of new releases. |
