This week saw the release of the 7th numerical entry in the long-running Resident Evil series. ...Or 8th if you count Zero. ...Or 9th if you count Code: Veronica. ...Or, like 21st if you count all the dozen or so other Resident Evil games they've put out over the years. The point is, there have been a lot of them. And even though the series went off the rails a bit with 6, the two recent Revelations titles helped to prove that there were still interesting stories to be told in the Resident Evil universe.
Now the series appears to be fully back on track with Resident Evil VII: Biohazard. Capcom has finally listened to feedback from its fans and placed a greater focus on horror over action than was seen in several previous titles. It seems to have payed off too, given the game's warm reception thus far.
Also out in the last two weeks, the newest installment to the similarly dozen(s)-strong Tales series, the sequel to a Japanese indie action-platformer that was previously released on the 3DS, and a 2-for-1 set of chicken-themed action adventure games that previously appeared on PlayStation systems. "Fear comes home." Jump past the break to see more of this past fortnight's new releases.
