 Happy New Year everyone! Just like 2016, the Steam Winter Sale is wrapping up and will very soon be nothing but a memory.  Great news, Mario Kart fans! Mario Kart 64 is now available on the Wii U Virtual Console! While not the original, 64 is still considered by many to be the best. So if you haven't experienced this 20-year-old gem yet, now's your chance.
Also out in the last six weeks, an all new entry in WayForward's outstanding Shantae series, and the Wii U Virtual Console releases of The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask and two phenomenal Intelligent Systems strategy games. Three... Two... One... Go! Jump past the break to see more new releases from the past month and a half.  At long, long last, The Last Guardian, a game 9 years in the making, has finally, finally been released. And unlike say Duke Nukem Forever, this game seems to have actually been worth the wait. While there may be a few minor complaints regarding the somewhat-dated gameplay, the general consensus seems to be that The Last Guardian is a beautiful and emotional experience its patiently eager fans are sure to enjoy.
Also out in the last two weeks, the equally long-awaited Final Fantasy XV, another stupendous Neo Geo fighter, and a port of the surprisingly well-made mobile game, Lara Croft Go. Steam has received a double dose of Ubisoft this week with the releases of Watch Dogs 2 and Steep. Watch Dogs 2 is the San Francisco-set sequel to the 2014 original (and by all accounts, is an improvement in nearly every way). Steep is a snowy extreme sports game in which you can explore, trick, or race down alpine mountains via skis, snowboard, wingsuit, or paraglider. There may not be a whole lot in common between the two games but they do both seem to be brimming with lots of potential entertainment.
Also out in the last three weeks, a port of a Japanese arcade shoot 'em up that was also previously available as an Xbox Live Arcade title, and a port of a 1996 adventure game starring Christopher Lloyd.
