A patent application Nintendo filed back in February, presumably for their next console, was published yesterday. One of the more interesting details about the patent is that the gaming system it describes does not feature an optical disc drive. That means no game discs. Period. A substantial break from the status quo of the last three gaming generations.

Nintendo has just announced that Pokkén Tournament will be coming to the Wii U next spring! What is Pokkén Tournament, exactly? Pokkén (or Pokémon Tekken) Tournament is a brand new Arcade fighting game that essentially mixes the gameplay of Tekken with the characters from Pokémon. If that doesn't sound rad to you, then you have no soul.
The Bandai Namco-developed game features fan favorite characters like Pikachu, Lucario, and Charizard. The Wii U version will also include a special luchador version of Pikachu called Pikachu Libre. Today's announcement was released alongside a video, which you may enjoy after the break. All this weekend, the Humble Store is featuring a sale on SNK Steam games. For just a little over 24 more hours, you can take advantage of 50% off on ports of some of the best Arcade releases of all time. The games are limited to only the Metal Slug and The King of Fighters series, but again, these are hands down six of the best games around. Head past the page break to see the list.
All week long, the Steam Store is featuring a sale on Japanese indie games, in honor of Summer Comiket. "Exactly what is Comiket?", you might be asking yourself. I'm glad you might have asked that, because I only just found out, myself. Evidently, "Comiket" (a contraction of "Comic Market") is an indie manga festival that is held twice a year in Tokyo. The Winter Comiket will take place later this year in December, and the Summer one is happening this very weekend. Steam is featuring over 50 games in the indie festival sale, including Japanese RPGs, visual novels, and platformers. The highlights in my opinion, though, are the fantastic shoot 'em ups they have on offer. Supercharged Robot Vulkaiser, Kamui, and, especially, the exquisite Arcade port XIIZeal are all well worth the crazy discounted prices. If you haven't yet played any of those games, I would strongly recommend taking advantage of this sale. While you are there, you can feel free to take a look at some of the other incredible indie deals as well. [Image: Valve] [Source: Siliconera]
The Humble Store is having an Anime Weekend Sale starting today. Over 20 anime-related (or styled) titles have been discounted and there are quite a few crazy-good deals to be had. I would suggest that you go and check it out without delay, but if you require a bit of persuasion, I will provide a list of some of the highlights. You can find it after the page break.
"...Man, machine - the fusion!" Welcome to the (not so) grand debut of 12/12 Games. This will be a site dedicated to gaming news, reviews, nostalgia, and possibly other stuff as well. Feel free to check back often because the goal is to have new stuff every day, if possible. I hope I can offer you content that is both compelling and (somewhat) substantial and that you will keep coming back for more.
Love it or hate it, I decided to kick things off with a video of the title song to Trials Fusion. It seemed only too appropriate to me. Enjoy the tune and be sure to check back tomorrow. Thanks for stopping by...and, welcome to the future. |
