Also out in the last month, what will supposedly be the final installment to Inti Creates' excellent Blaster Master Zero trilogy; the long-awaited Xbox (Series X) version of Microsoft's newest flight simulator game; and the fan-appreciated motion-control-optional HD remaster of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. "Only the possibility of you can change our fate." Jump past the break to see more new releases from the last 35 days.
Well, it's been a pretty good month for the Switch. As you may notice below, all but two of this month's featured releases can be found on Nintendo's dual purpose dynamo. One of the bigger titles, which came out just this week, is Square Enix's Neo: The World Ends With You. A sequel to their popular 2008 DS orginal, Neo features more great music from the same composer, a new cast of characters, and superior gameplay and three-dimensional graphics.

Here we are again with another great month of gaming releases to tell you about. The big title this week seems to be Scarlet Nexus, an anime-infused "brain punk" action RPG, somewhat similar to Bandai Namco's own Tales series (and brought to you by some of the very same people). If you like stylish, high-quality animation and a pretty unique and fun-looking combat system, this could be just the ticket.
Also out in the last month, a new installment to Nintendo's long-running Mario Golf franchise; an HD remake of the incredible 1986 Sega Master System classic, Alex Kidd in Miracle World; and the long-awaited release of one of the most anticipated games of the year, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. "We are all connected." Jump past the break to see more new releases from the last 28 days. Another month, another Notable New Releases post. This week saw the re-release of a 2004 PlayStation 2 title, newly remastered for current platforms, of course. Shin Megami Tensei III is another enjoyable entry in the popular Atlus RPG universe. While the third entry in the main SMT series, the PS2 release was actually the first to see a western release. Of course, there have been several released since, both in the main and the spin-off series. But, having the option to experience this visually-upgraded classic, especially for those who may have missed out on it the first time around, is most welcome indeed.
Also out in the last month, the original Mass Effect trilogy, now remastered for newer consoles; the eighth numbered installment to the so-long-running-it's-scary Resident Evil series; and Returnal, a new Housemarque title that may quite possibly be the first must-play true exclusive for the PlayStation 5. The world has been swallowed by chaos. Jump past the break to see more new releases from the last 35 days. Hello again, gamers! Considering the slow, sporadic release schedule often associated with this time of the year, we hope you'll forgive us for not having any new release posts to offer for the past couple months. We have a pretty solid dozen for you now though, starting with this week's most notable release, Nier: Replicant. Essentially a remake of the somewhat-unremarkable 2010 original, this new version of Nier features the welcome additions of improved graphics and gameplay, as well as new story content that provides a plot link to the very popular 2017 series entry, Nier: Automata.
Also out in the last two months, the fourth installment to Falcom's excellent Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel series; a console release of the critically-acclaimed 2019 PC hit, Disco Elysium; and a brand new Switch-exclusive (for now) entry in Capcom's beloved Monster Hunter franchise. (Re-)experience a tale of love and despair, then jump past the break to see more new releases from the last 56 days. Greetings, gamers! It's been literally years since we posted our last helpful sale-related public service announcement. We figured we were way overdue for a new one. As if that weren't bad enough, it turns out that we've actually never before posted one for our favorite DRM-free game store, GOG! Shame on us!
Well, it's time to make amends. So, you can now consider yourselves fully informed about GOG's currently-ongoing Spring Sale. They are featuring some pretty insane deals on thousands of great gaming titles. Make sure to go check it out, before it's all over. Or, feel free to continue on, past the break, for a handy list of some of their best and most eye-popping offerings. Welcome back to the New Gaming Releases. This week saw the release of at least a couple of titles that should be worth checking out. The most noteworthy of which is an all new Switch-exclusive remake of Capcom's infamously challenging 1980s arcade hit, Ghosts 'n Goblins. While we wouldn't necessarily have expected to see a game like this come out until a bit closer to Halloween, we aren't exactly going to complain about getting it earlier on in the year.
Also out in the last two and a half months, a very cool-looking action roguelike called Curse of the Dead Gods; the Switch rerelease of one of our favorite family games from the Wii U (now with additional bonus content); and the newest, and ninth installment to the long running Ys series, Monstrum Nox. Watch out for things that go bump in the knight, then jump past the break to see more new releases from the last 77 days. Well, CD Projekt delayed it all they could, but apparently they weren't willing to go beyond 2020. So as a result, Cyberpunk 2077 is finally out, for better or for worse. Though between high-end PC graphics cards being nearly as impossible to find as the new video game consoles, and Cyberpunk being nearly unplayable on the consoles it was actually designed for, perhaps a delay into 2021 wouldn't have been the worst thing in the world. That being said, If you do happen to be one of the very lucky few who was able to somehow secure a high-end graphics card and/or next-gen game console, word is that Cyberpunk is a pretty decent trip, so long as you don't mind a few bugs. Hopefully, CD Projekt will use the coming months to fix these aforementioned issues that really should have been addressed before release.
Also out in the last four months, a sequel to the 2017 puzzle game mash-up, Puyo Puyo Tetris; a slew of fantastic new GOG releases; and a follow-up to 2014's Hyrule Warriors. Night City changes every body. Jump past the break to see more new releases from the last 28 days. So, Star Wars: Squadrons came out today, and the reviews look to be fairly good so far. Though there's no split-screen play, and apparently the map selection is pretty sparse, so that's a bit disappointing. That being said, it's not every day we get an even halfway-decent Star Wars game, so it still might be worth checking out. And just in case you'd be interested in reading up on some great past titles from the Star Wars universe, we've got you covered there.
Also out in the last two weeks, the newest numbered sequel in the Crash Bandicoot franchise to be released in over two decades; a most-welcome GOG release of the new Panzer Dragoon remake; and a trove of GOG-released Konami titles, including multiple Metal Gear classics and the seasonally-appropriate Silent Hill 4: The Room. "Pilots wanted." Jump past the break to see more new releases from the last 14 days. Well, we're nearly three weeks into September, and that means it's about to be autumn, here in the Northern Hemisphere. But in case you wanted to hang on to that summer feeling for just a little while longer, Crytek has you covered with a beautiful-looking return to the lush jungles and crystal blue waters of the Lingshan Islands in their newly-refreshed first-person shooter classic, Crysis (Remastered). It's the legend you love, now with even better graphics (and this time around you don't have to worry about whether or not your system can handle it because it's on consoles now).
Also out in the last three weeks, an apparently limited-time three-in-one package of 3D Mario classics; a Steam port of the 4th entry in the scary good Disgaea series; and a pretty gnarly remaster of the first two titles of the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater franchise. Adapt, Engage, Survive, then jump past the break to see more new releases from the last 21 days. |
