Well, CD Projekt delayed it all they could, but apparently they weren't willing to go beyond 2020. So as a result, Cyberpunk 2077 is finally out, for better or for worse. Though between high-end PC graphics cards being nearly as impossible to find as the new video game consoles, and Cyberpunk being nearly unplayable on the consoles it was actually designed for, perhaps a delay into 2021 wouldn't have been the worst thing in the world. That being said, If you do happen to be one of the very lucky few who was able to somehow secure a high-end graphics card and/or next-gen game console, word is that Cyberpunk is a pretty decent trip, so long as you don't mind a few bugs. Hopefully, CD Projekt will use the coming months to fix these aforementioned issues that really should have been addressed before release.

Notable New Gaming Releases: PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and More...11/14/2020 As of this week, the next round of the console wars is finally in full swing with the launch of both Sony's brand new PlayStation 5 as well as Microsoft's own Xbox Series X. Both consoles have several shiny new games to show off as well (though nothing truly exclusive as of yet). Probably the biggest standout though is going to be Spider-Man: Miles Morales for the PS4/5. Semi-sequel to Insomniac's outstanding 2018 Spider-Man game, this new entry lets you continue the adventures as Peter Parker's new web-slinging protege.
Also out in the last few days to weeks, a brand new spin-off adventure from Sony's wildly popular LittleBigPlanet franchise; another new installment in the long-running Dirt series; and Switch ports of both of the ridiculously crazy No More Heroes Wii titles (amongst others). Be greater. Be yourself. Then jump past the break to see more new releases from the last 7-49 days. So, Star Wars: Squadrons came out today, and the reviews look to be fairly good so far. Though there's no split-screen play, and apparently the map selection is pretty sparse, so that's a bit disappointing. That being said, it's not every day we get an even halfway-decent Star Wars game, so it still might be worth checking out. And just in case you'd be interested in reading up on some great past titles from the Star Wars universe, we've got you covered there.
Also out in the last two weeks, the newest numbered sequel in the Crash Bandicoot franchise to be released in over two decades; a most-welcome GOG release of the new Panzer Dragoon remake; and a trove of GOG-released Konami titles, including multiple Metal Gear classics and the seasonally-appropriate Silent Hill 4: The Room. "Pilots wanted." Jump past the break to see more new releases from the last 14 days. The crime rate is rising and law and order are dying, so return to the streets of rage as Axel or Blaze (amongst others) and restore order like only they can. Streets of Rage 4 is the extremely welcome, long overdue follow-up to the legendary Genesis beat 'em up trilogy. This entry brings the series a fresh art style, some new tunes, and a few thoughtful updates to the mostly otherwise classic gameplay. We aren't sure yet whether or not this entry is exactly what we would have had in mind but we are, nevertheless, very grateful it exists.
Also out in the past four weeks, a brand new, tactical-focused entry in the (nearly) always fantastic Gears of War series; a much-anticipated remake of the longtime Japan exclusive, Trials of Mana; and one part of the (also) much-anticipated Final Fantasy VII remake. You know punks are dying when bare knuckles start flying. Jump past the break to see more new releases from the last 28 days. Well, the Resident Evil 3 remake is finally out and we're pretty stoked about it. Even if the timing is a little inconvenient. After all, not everybody may be in the mood right now to play a virtual survivor scrounging for basic essentials in a city that has been turned upside down by a highly infectious virus. As great fans of the series though, we're willing to look past all that.
Also out in the past three weeks, the latest incredible-looking entry to the Doom franchise (along with it's Nintendo 64-installment predecessor); a much-appreciated GOG release of The King of Fighters XIV; and a long-overdue HD remake of the original Saturn classic, Panzer Dragoon. Face your fears, then jump past the break to see more new releases from the last 21 days. Well, we're nearly at the middle of March and one of the first big releases of the year is now upon us: Ori and the Will of the Wisps. Sequel to the outstandingly beautiful (and entertaining) 2015 hit, Ori and the Blind Forest, Will of the Wisps looks to be gifting players with even more lovely adventures featuring this bright scrappy hero. Color us excited.
Also out in the past three weeks, a collection of the fantastic Mega Man Zero and ZX games; another new and incredible-looking Arc System Works fighting game called Granblue Fantasy - Versus; and the PlayStation 4 ACA Neo-Geo release of Metal Slug 5. A new journey begins. Jump past the break to see more new releases from the last 21 days. Rats! GOG and Bethesda have brought Dishonor to us all. Er, Dishonor-ed, that is. All three of them, in fact - - the Definitive Edition of the first entry, as well as the sequel and its standalone expansion, Death of the Outsider. This is particularly exciting news as Dishonored is actually one of the better franchises of the last decade, and now that it's on GOG, you can own it forever!
Also out on GOG from Bethesda this week are Wolfenstein: The New Order and that game's standalone expansion, The Old Blood. Revenge solves everything. Jump past the break to see more new releases from the last three weeks. With the end of 2019, the 2010s also finally came to a close. And now that we've looked back on all the great games of 2019, it's time to take a look back at the decade as a whole and talk about the titles that really stood out as the very best of the best. It may have been a long 10 years, with lots of changes in the gaming world, but it was chock full of gaming experiences that were absolutely second to none. While it may have pained us to narrow so many fantastic games down to only a dozen, we have done exactly that, just for you. Here are our picks for the 12 best games of the 2010s:
Now that 2020 is in full swing we have finally left that dead period around the holidays behind and can get back to seeing at least some semi-regular new game releases (as well as new versions of older games). Given that the big game is this weekend, (Koei) Tecmo (and Hamster) have appropriately kicked off the football festivities with the original video game football classic, Tecmo Bowl. And it's the vastly superior arcade version as well (yes, we know the NES version has its fans too)! You may recall that Tecmo Bowl was one of the 6 Favorite Football Games spoken about on this site previously.
Of course if football isn't your thing, there've been a few other somewhat high profile releases recently that might be more to your liking. Some of which include, the console release of Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire; the arcade (archives) version of the old-school Konami classic, Frogger; and an Xbox One port of the arcadey indie flight sim, Sky Rogue. "Now, strap on your helmet and go for it!" Then jump past the break to see more new releases from the last eight weeks. |
